It doesn’t get any better than tacos and tequila at Tuco’s Taqueria Garaje, especially when the weather is nice and you can find a spot at the restaurant’s charming outdoor patio in Downtown Roanoke. If the weather is good, have a seat at the picnic table in front of this Williamson Road taco truck. The fresh made tortillas really hit the spot! Taqueria RositaĪn order of Tacos Mexicanos at Taqueria Rosita means you’ll be enjoying five small, traditional style tacos of corn tortillas topped with steak, onions, cilantro and sides of grilled onions, fresh lime, radish, and spicy red salsa. While most of the menu features authentic dishes from Honduras, you can also order carne asada tacos and tacos dorados to meet your taco craving. Taqueria Express is a food truck tucked in the back of the parking lot at the La Estrella Latina store on Williamson Road, but it’s a delicious find. You’ll be amazed at the variety of Mexican dishes on the menu, including a broad selection of tacos such as carnitas, asada, al pastor, pollo asado, fish, shrimp, and chorizo. Tacos in a convenience store?! It may sound strange, but you won’t regret it when you enjoy a meal at Tacos Rojas, which is located in Roanoke’s Mountain View Neighborhood. It’s only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but a meal at Taco Riendo on Williamson Road is worth fitting into your weekend schedule! The food truck is parked beside the Reyna Produce market and its authentic Mexican cuisine is a hit with local foodies. Seating is limited but you could get your tacos to go and make the short trek over to Preston Park for a picnic! Taco Riendo Order a few carne asada (steak) tacos topped with grilled onions, cilantro, and salsa verde and don’t forget to add some fresh lime juice. Sabor Latino is a truck that can typically be found in the parking lot of the Laesquina Latina convenience store. An order of tacos will get you four tacos served on house-made flour tortillas and your choice of meat, such as campechana or carnitas, with cilantro, onions and lime. It’s a casual restaurant with a bar and dining room that features a menu with all kinds of Mexican dishes. Mi Tapatia is a great local spot with a festive Mexican atmosphere on Williamson Road. The menu features traditional taco options like asada, al pastor, and pollo (chicken), but if you’re feeling adventurous, try the lengua, tripa and suadero tacos! Mi Tapatia Carniceria LilyĬarniceria Lily is one of many trailers beside Latino grocery stores you’ll find on Williamson Road that serves tasty tacos! At this local spot, you place your order inside the store at the counter and then head back out to the trailer where your food is prepared. In addition to the popular chips & salsa bar, Alejandro’s has an impressive selection of tacos, such as the Shorty Tacos, which features your choice of chili lime asada, grilled chicken, al pastor or carnitas, topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. You’re in for a tasty fiesta at Alejandro’s, which has multiple locations in Virginia’s Blue Ridge, including spots in Downtown Roanoke and North Roanoke.
